Alaafia, beautiful people. My name is Kaydot Honeybaggs Ifafolarin, wife of Babalawo King Brujo Esuwale Adigun. Today, I want to share something deeply personal—my journey into the tradition of Ifa and why I chose to receive my Hand of Ifa.
What Is the Hand of Ifa?
The Hand of Ifa—also known as Isefa—is a sacred ceremony where one receives half of the Orunmila shrine. Orunmila, the Orisha of wisdom and divination, is the witness to our destinies. Through Isefa, you don’t just gain sacred tools—you receive an Odu Ifa, a spiritual signature that reveals the blueprint of your life’s journey up until that point.
This Odu Ifa isn’t just a story—it’s your story. It carries profound insight into who you are, what you’ve experienced, and the path you’re meant to follow. It provides spiritual clarity, direction, and alignment with your higher self.
My Reasons for Stepping Forward with Receiving the Hand of Ifa
When I decided to receive my Hand of Ifa, I was at a point in my life where I longed for alignment. I wanted more than surface-level peace—I wanted to step into a truth that was mine.
In a world full of illusions and noise, Ifa offered something rare: clarity. Studying Ifa helped me understand what truth really meant—not some universal cliché, but the deep understanding of who I was created to be.
The Orisha tradition doesn’t ask you to become someone else—it reveals who you’ve always been. It hands you the mirror of your destiny and says, “Look deeper.”
Truth, Destiny, and the Ifa Way
Ifa teaches that truth is not abstract. It’s grounded in our actions, choices, and alignment with destiny. Through divination, rituals, and personal growth, we learn to live in harmony with our inner truth and ancestral purpose.
My Odu Ifa gave me the first real language to describe the journey I had been walking my entire life. It explained the trials, the victories, and the lessons—all from the perspective of destiny.
A Call to Those Seeking
To anyone considering the Hand of Ifa, I say this: when you’re ready to know yourself, not just in fragments but fully—this path will open doors that you didn’t even know existed.
